Christian IV (16 September, 1722 - Présent) is a Prussian nobleman, holding the titles of Duke-Palatine of Zweibrücken, Count of Birkenfeld, and Count of Rappoltstein; and an army officer, serving as Generalmajor and Commandant of the First Corps. The son of Christian III and Caroline de Nassau-Sarrebruck, he is the second son of four, and eldest male, born in Bischwiller to the Pfalz-Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld line, a branch of the Palatinate Wittelsbachs, the main branch of which is one of the most influential families in Prussia. He inherited his father's titles at the young age of 13. Caroline became regent for his son until his majority. He was sent, from 1737 to 1738 to study at the University of Leiden and then to the French Royal Court alongside his brother Frederick.
